Full Description
This course provides training for individuals who wish to become certified as Emergency Medical Technicians. The primary purpose of an EMT is to provide basic life support to individuals who are sick or injured. EMTs work in a variety of settings, but the primary purpose is to work on an ambulance. Graduates of this course may take the cognitive and psychomotor examinations for certification as an EMT in Indiana and/or through the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT).

Anderson Fire Department EMT Program Fall 2026 - Spring 2027 Enrollment The Anderson Fire Department is now accepting applications for the 2026-2027 EMT Program. This class is held in the evenings. This comprehensive EMT course prepares students for the National Registry EMT examination while providing hands-on instruction from experienced EMS professionals. Whether you're pursuing a career in EMS, preparing for the fire service, or simply want to develop lifesaving skills, this course provides the knowledge and experience needed to become a certified Emergency Medical Technician.

Class Schedule Program Dates: August 25, 2026 – March 13, 2027

Class Days: Tuesday and Thursday evenings (Includes one Friday class and one Saturday practical examination in March)

In-person classes are held at the Anderson Fire Department Training Center, 5812 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Anderson, IN 46013

Program Costs
EMT Tuition: $500
Classroom Fee: $45 (includes clinical shirt and FISDAP testing)
Required Textbook & Premier Online Access: AAOS Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured, 13th Edition, Premier Access. The required textbook and online access are available through the program for $435.95.

Program Requirements Students will need a reliable laptop computer or tablet Internet access. Students will participate in a minimum of three 12-hour ambulance clinical shifts riding with Anderson Fire Department EMS crews and one 8-hour Emergency Department clinical shift.
