Brief Description: ISSSA Basic Training 26-27 for Incoming School Safety Specialists (October 5-6, 2026)

Full Description: The Basic Indiana School Safety Academy provides foundational training for school leaders and staff to strengthen emergency preparedness and response in educational environments. This program covers essential topics such as emergency planning, threat assessment, crisis management, and collaboration with local law enforcement and community partners. Participants gain practical strategies to create safer schools, protect students and staff, and build a culture of prevention and resilience. To enroll, you must have a PSID and be associated with a School Corporation, Charter or Nonpublic School. You must also submit the Basic registration form, signed by your superintendent, into the ACADIS portal before starting the online course. The online course must be completed as a prerequisite prior to attending the two-day, in-person training. Both the online course and the in-person training are required to earn certification as a School Safety Specialist.

Resources Required: Participants must have a valid PSID and be affiliated with a School Corporation, Charter, or Nonpublic School. A superintendent-signed registration form(linked below) must be uploaded into the ACADIS portal before enrollment is approved. Completion of the online course and attendance at the two-day, in-person training are both required to earn certification as a School Safety Specialist.

Reporting Instructions: The online Basic Training Course must be completed before attending and participating in the in-person training at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown on October 5-6, 2026.

Signup Details: Once enrolled in the Basic Training Online Course you will also be registered for the in-person training.
