Brief Description
Fire Chief Executive Training Program (See Full Description for important details)
Full Description
This executive-level course is mandatory for all newly appointed career fire chiefs in the State of Indiana. Individuals who are mandated to attend will receive first priority for enrollment. All other applicants will be placed on a waiting list until approximately two months prior to the start of the class. At that time, any remaining seats will be offered in the following order:
1. Career and volunteer fire chiefs who are not mandated to attend
2. Assistant and deputy chiefs (both career & volunteer)
3. Division or other chief positions (as space allows)
* Company Officers are recommended to attend the Public Safety Leadership Development course offered four times a year around the state.

Please note: This course is specifically designed for newly appointed fire chiefs.
It is not intended for company officers or those aspiring for promotion for a chief officer position.  The course is also not structured for leadership teams. Departments are asked to refrain from submitting multiple members of the same leadership team, as this is not a team-delivery course.

Course Reporting Instructions
Detailed reporting instructions and other logistical guidance will be sent to the email address listed in the participant’s ACADIS profile approximately two months prior to the start of the course.

Lodging Information
The Fire Academy will arrange and pay for hotel accommodations for participants who live 50 miles or more from the MADE@Plainfield Training Facility in Plainfield, Indiana. Lodging details will be included in the reporting instructions.  Participants who live less than 50 miles from the facility are not eligible for hotel accommodations.

Verification Documentation
All applicants must submit a letter of verification from their supervisor as part of the registration process. The letter must clearly confirm the applicant’s current position within the organization.
• For fire chiefs:
The verification letter must come from the appointing authority affirming the applicant’s current role as fire chief.
• For all other applicants:
The verification letter must be provided by the applicant’s immediate supervisor, confirming the applicant’s current, officially held position.

Please note that aspiring or anticipated future positions will not be considered for eligibility or priority placement. Only documentation verifying the applicant’s current, officially appointed position will be accepted.

Questions and Communication
All questions regarding the course, enrollment status, or logistics should be directed to Zach Mathews at zmathews@gmail.com.  Please do not use Facebook or Facebook Messenger to request information, check roster status, or seek guidance. Email is the only approved method of contact.
