Full Description: Course Description

This course provides local- and state-level emergency responders with a robust understanding of the duties, responsibilities, and capabilities of an effective Safety Officer (SOFR) on an All-Hazards Incident Management Team (AHIMT). These responsibilities fall into two categories: 1) responding to the incident and the safety needs of the incident, and 2) effectively fulfilling the position responsibilities of an SOFR on an AHIMT.

Exercises, simulations, discussions, and a final exam enable participants to process and apply their new knowledge.

Prerequisites: IS-700 National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction
IS - 200 for Single Resources and Initial Action (Any Version)
IS - 800 An Introduction to National Response Framework
IS - 100 Introduction to Incident Command System
ICS 400 Advanced ICS for Command & General Staff
ICS 300 Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents

Resources Required: This course utilizes digital delivery of materials. Students must download the attached documents to a digital device before the start of class and bring the device with them to class fully charged. If this is a consortium course, documents will be sent from them to download.
