Full Description: CPTED (Crime Prevention through Environmental Design) uses design, management, and activity strategies to reduce opportunities for crime to occur, reduce fear, and improve the overall safety of schools. The CPTED concept emphasizes the relationship between the physical environment, the productive use of space, and the behavior of people. Upon completion of this 24-hour course, successful completion of a written test is required to obtain a course certificate. The course will include a hands-on CPTED evaluation of a school, and attendees will be provided with tools to use on their school campuses or in their associated activities with school safety.

Prerequisites: I agree to the following statements:

1. I am an Indiana resident.

2. I am affiliated with an Indiana School Corporation, Charter School, or accredited non-public school and have provided contact information for my Superintendent/Head of School.

3. I have read and understand the Registration and Attendance Policy: Due to a strict capacity of 30 participants per class, registration is managed on a first-come, first-served basis. To avoid potential penalty fees and ensure waitlisted individuals have the opportunity to attend, please notify the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (dhsschoolsafety@dhs.in.gov) immediately if you are no longer able to attend. Failure to provide timely notice will result in the individual and their organization being disqualified from all future training opportunities for the duration of the current IDHS/OSS contract with NASRO.
