South Bend Recruit Academy 2026 EMT Class

The start date for this EMT course will be February 9th 2026.

We will be using the Brady Emergency Care 14th edition textbook and workbook for this course. We will also be using Platinum Planner and EMS testing as additional resources and to keep track of clinical hours, ride time, and patient contacts. All lectures and skill sessions will be completed in the classroom on a daily basis at our training center. As far as training equipment is concerned, we have a wide array of equipment that we already use for our AEMT classes that we are already instructing. We will be using our facilities at the South Bend Fire Department training center where we have held our previous EMT classes in past years.

Students will be required to complete 16 hours of Hospital ER clinical time and 24 hours of ambulance ride time with the South Bend Fire Department.

Indiana Driving Law will be covered when we discuss EMS Operations. HazMat Awareness will be covered during the HazMat chapter/lecture. We will cover advanced airways during the airway management chapters and will have lab days to practice skills. IV maintenance will be covered during skills days throughout the class. POST training will be completed on ACADIS.

The three mental health modules as well as TIM training, has all been added to the required list of online modules.

If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
